And we're off . . .
This post kicks off our blogging adventure in hopes that it helps us keep in touch with all our friends and family. It also marks the beginning of our wedding planning! Jessica and I got engaged on Friday night, May 8th on Edisto Beach. The story goes like this:
Jessica's friends, Becca and Becky, had a great girls' weekend planned in St. Louis this weekend. However, after a wrong turn on the interstate, a little suspicion started setting in for Jessica, who soon found herself on a plane to Charleston instead. There she was met by Travis, one of John David's friends whom she had not met before. He drove her to Edisto Beach, kicked her out of the car with instructions to "just follow the path." As she got on the beach, she followed roses stuck in the sand down the beach to where I was sitting waiting for her. The night was beautiful - full moon reflecting off the water, breeze to keep the bugs away and temperature down. God treated us well in that! After I asked her to marry me (and she said yes!!) we sat on the beach talking and just enjoyed seeing each other (and some good Ale8.) And our families loved the 2am phone calls!
I've very excited to get to write that story down finally. The Lord has truly written our story beautifully over nearly 10 years of knowing each other. I had a great time planning the engagement and even more fun experiencing it that night. We're really excited about Him continuing to write our story for us. We're also very thankful for all our friends and family who love us, care about us, pray for us, and encourage us. I look forward to writing more soon!
